Parent Receptionist

Position Title Receptionist

Hours Permanent Full time, term time only

8:00am – 4:00pm

Thomas Hassall Anglican College is a vibrant P-12 independent College located with close
access to the M5 and M7 in the growing southwest of Sydney. We are committed to

The College is seeking to employ a receptionist to be the initial face of the College to all
visitors, contractors, students, parents and new employees during term time. The receptionist
will be proactive, punctual and reliable, maintain a well-groomed and business-like appearance
and enjoy dealing with people daily, being tolerant and polite but assertive.

Key Selection Criteria
The successful applicant for the above position must be able to provide evidence to support
the following criteria:

  • Strong personal Christian faith and be a regular and practising member of a Bible-based

Christian Church

  • Strong administration skills, organised, thorough, with meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Work collaboratively, establishing rapport and maintaining effective working
relationships with students, parents and staff of the College community

  • Passionate about delivering exceptional levels of customer service, hospitality and a
warm and sincere welcome

  • Ability to handle all telephone enquiries in a friendly and helpful manner and re-direct

enquiries and/or take appropriate follow-up action.

Skills & Qualifications

  • High level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent levels of computer literacy and touch-typing skills
  • Previous customer service experience
  • A First Aid Certificate would be desirable

Parent Receptionist

Primary Purpose:
The Parent Receptionist is the first face to the College and the positions primary purpose is to
manage reception and all enquiries coming into the College in a friendly and professional
manner.

Accountable to:
The Principal through the Business Manager

Directly reports to:
Business Manager

Relates to:

1. All members of staff
2. Prospective and Existing Parents
3. Students
4. Contractors and Visitors

Major Responsibilities
The Parent Receptionist is the initial face of the College to all visitors, contractors, students,
parents and new employees. The Parent Receptionist is part of the College Administration
Team and is responsible to the Principal through the Business Manager. Duties will include but
are not be limited to the following: 

Answer incoming calls and transfer or take messages for relevant staff 
Greet and assist all visitors, contractors, students, parents and volunteers arriving at

the College 
Ensuring all visitors are accounted for whilst on the premises with appropriate name

tags and Working with Children clearances 
Provide lunch cover for Student Reception and College Clinic 
Cover the role of Student Reception or College Clinic in the case of an absence 
Responsible for mail, including incoming email, packages and their distribution 
Maintain a clean and professional front reception area 
Arrange couriers as required 
Other administrative assistance as required

The Parent Receptionist is expected to be present at: 

all mandatory College events, 
all mandatory professional development activities
