An amazing opportunity exists to be part of a wonderful program and to join our dedicated team. The Sydney Children’s Hospital Network and The Statewide Eyesight Preschooler Screening (StEPS) program is looking for an exceptional person to join our South-Eastern Sydney team in the role of ‘Vision Screener’ to provide screening services for children throughout the South-Eastern Sydney Local Health District. This includes the Eastern Suburbs, St George and Sutherland Shire areas. The role is a casual position. Working hours per week can vary, but is estimated to be up to 12 hours per week. Typically, shifts are 4 hours per day between the hours of 9am to 1pm with some flexibility. No experience in vision screening is necessary and all training will be provided.
Candidates must have a full NSW driver’s licence with their own vehicle.
This role would suit someone who is looking for part time work, a work-life balance, or looking for a career change. It is for someone with good values looking to make an impact in the community and children’s vision.
Are you interested in doing something with a purpose? Do you enjoy working with children? Are you honest, self-directed, organised, and respectful? Do you prefer being on the road (not in an office) with daily changes to your working environment? Are you up for the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment? If you have answered yes to the above, then this is the role for you, and we would love to hear from you!
What you’ll be doing
- Direct hands-on experience working or supervising 3-6 year old children.
- Highly effective and professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work both in a team and individually with limited supervision.
- Ability and knowledge in handling sensitive information.
- Ability to communicate with parents who may be distressed in a professional manner.
- Good computer skills including the use of excel and the willingness to learn new IT systems and programs as per the needs of the program.
- Full NSW Driver’s licence with own transport.
