What you’ll be doing

The Operations Assistant supports health professionals in the delivery of patient care. Under the direction of medical and nursing staff, The Operations Assistant maintains and provides equipment that assists in patient care delivery and is responsible for the transportation of patients throughout the Operating Suite, recovery and to the High Dependency Units.

Applications are sought for the role of Operations Assistants on a Full-Time permanent basis, for Westmead operating suites, a tertiary referral trauma centre with 24 operating rooms. The position is responsible for patient transport and positioning before and after procedures and includes ensuring operating tables and positioning devices are cleaned, maintained and applied using appropriate manual handling techniques, to support elective and emergency surgery. As well a collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to provide safe patient care.

Selection Criteria:

  • Ability to demonstrate experience in patient transportation and positioning within an Operating Suite and ability to adapt to the demands of a Perioperative environment.
  • Sound knowledge of Operating Suite equipment and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety and Manual handling principles and requirements.
  • Proven ability to communicate with a variety of patients, staff, and managers.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment.
