Main Purpose of Job

The Young Carers Project Worker will be responsible for planning, orgnaising and delivering sessions for young carers in the Northolt and Greenford areas of Ealing. They will provide individual and group support in a variety of settings in the local community as well as working closely with schools to identify new young carers and drive referrals to the project.

Responsibilities

• To work alongside the project manager to offer practical and emotional support to young carers.
• To set up a new youth club in the Northolt area.
• To plan, organise and deliver school holiday trips for young carers in Northolt and Greenford.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with young carers through one-to-one support.
• Plan, organise and deliver sessions in schools to support and engage new young carers.
• To build knowledge on young carers and their needs and an understanding of the local services available to them.
• Create awareness of young carers and their needs and support the manager in increasing the number of young carers accessing support from the project.
• Keep up to date registers, risk assessments and regularly upload to monitoring systems.
• To understand and comply with all policies and procedures in line with Trust and contractual responsibilities including the safeguarding of the young people, GDPR, health and safety and EDI.
• Work flexible hours including evenings and occasional weekends.
• Stay informed about safeguarding policies, procedures, and best practices
• Report any safeguarding concerns promptly to the appropriate authorities or designated personnel.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, concerns, and actions taken.

The Selection Criteria Essential

• Experience of working and setting up youth clubs
• Good understanding of working on projects and meeting deadlines.
• Experience of working with young people (paid or voluntary)
• Experience of planning and delivering on sessions
• Ability to lead and work as part of a team
• Experience of building positive relationships with young people
• Excellent communication and organisation skills
• Ability to work under own initiative as well as part of a team.
• Availability to work evenings, school holidays and occasional weekends
• To be able work across Borough of Ealing
• Safeguarding and First Aid qualification or willingness to complete

Desirable:

• Previous experience of working with young carers and an understanding of their needs.
• Professional qualification related to working with young people
