Position Summary/Mission

The Medical Science Liaison is a non-selling role which develops and delivers clear and balanced communication based on scientific and clinical data, in order to ensure safe use of Almirall medicines and to build valued partnerships between Almirall and scientific & clinical stakeholders.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide a field-based enquiry-response service for defined Almirall products in line with unsolicited medical requests and medical information procedures.
  • Define and deliver a national field-based medical plan. Support the Medical lead with development of the Medical strategy in conjunction with HO Medical colleagues and in line with Brand Team Excellence.
  • Under specific direction from the UK Medical Director, support the development and delivery of UK & Corporate medical activities including late stage trials, independent investigator research and other relevant medical projects in partnership with HO based colleagues.
  • Provide technical support to the wider business through the delivery of appropriate on-label accurate and balanced scientific and medical information to external medical stakeholders
  • Participate in partnership working with external scientific, research and clinical stakeholders
  • Engage with KOLs in relation to Advisory Board activities
  • Support Brand Team excellence with collaborative working
  • Demonstrate a cross functional collaborative proactive approach which is solution orientated
  • Maintain in depth scientific knowledge including patient perspective
  • Proactively share insights to support company goals for both short and long term
  • Lead and embed a culture, way of working and processes that support a fully compliant operational environment

Required Education & Experience

  • Educated to life science degree level or equivalent
  • At least 12 months experience within a medical department of a pharmaceutical company
  • Ability to understand and interpret clinical and medical data
  • Thorough knowledge of the ABPI Code of Practice, Medicines Act and MHRA Blue Guide is essential. Thorough understanding and ability to implement ABPI Code of Practice in communication.
  • Successful completion of the ABPI Medical Representative Examination is required for this role if new to the industry or this type of MSL role, it must be taken within 12 months from starting this role and must be satisfactorily passed within 2 years as per the ABPI Code of Practice
  • Knowledge and understanding of the clinical trials process desirable
  • Computer literacy
  • Full driving licence
