Responsibilities:

About the role
Medical Editors at Lucid work in close partnership with the Medical, Client Services and Project Management teams to understand project and client needs and deliver tailored high-quality outputs. They lead editorial excellence in these specific client account teams. They also work closely with members of the Editorial team aligned to other client accounts to champion quality assurance and compliance across Lucid.
Our Medical Editors are responsible for:
  • Editorial quality and excellence in delivery across a series of client accounts
  • Proactively partnering with Medical, Client Services and Project Management leads in the account team to establish and maintain efficient and collaborative cross-functional working
  • Proactively ensuring good understanding of their accounts (clients, projects, disease areas, therapies) as required to provide excellent editorial support
  • Proactively ensuring good knowledge and understanding the relevant style guide/s and compliance codes
  • Performing editorial reviews of client- and Lucid-related materials (including, but not limited to, congress materials, educational platform content, internal and external company communications, manuscripts, meeting reports, scientific posters, slide decks, video scripts and website copy) in line with Lucid best practice
  • Assuring quality through the use of editorial checklists and adherence to briefs, style guides and compliance codes
  • Peer-reviewing Editorial colleagues’ work to ensure consistent quality, and providing associated constructive feedback to optimise performance and development
  • Fulfilling the role of line manager to support the performance and development of line reports, including ensuring awareness and implementation of associated Lucid processes and milestones
  • Mentoring Editorial team members to drive performance and development and ensure application of Lucid best practice
  • Supporting Editorial leadership to identify Editorial team capability and performance needs
  • Leading editorial excellence in their account team through implementation of editorial training, processes and best practice
  • Supporting Editorial leadership to identify editorial training needs in the account team
  • Supporting the recruitment of new Editorial team members by assessing tests and attending interviews, when required
  • Supporting the efficient and appropriate onboarding to new Editorial team members
  • Contributing to distinct elements of Editorial team initiatives to support the implementation of editorial best practice
  • Demonstrating good application of the Lucid values and leading by example to contribute positively to team and company culture
  • Contributing to operational efficiency and business performance by adhering to Lucid processes around time keeping, expenses, resourcing and cross-functional working
  • Proactively managing their own workload and deadlines
  • Working with Editorial leadership to ensure proactive and efficient short- and medium-term Editorial resource management in their account team

Qualifications:

Essential criteria:
  • A degree in a scientific, medical or life-sciences field or in a language
  • Experience editing content for the healthcare/pharmaceutical sector
  • Experience editing medical/scientific content in different print and digital formats
  • Good attention to detail
  • Excellent English language skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe, Word, PowerPoint
  • Experience managing own time in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Experience in reviewing Editorial colleagues’ work

Desirable 
criteria:
  • Experience working within a healthcare communications agency environment
  • Competent and confident being a therapy area expert
  • Experience in mentoring editors
  • Experience in line-management and development of editors
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Experience working collaboratively and efficiently in a cross-capability team
