Type: Permanent

Location: London
Business Group: Services and Access
Branch: Service Delivery and Operations
Salary: £32,938 – £44,479

Te Tari Taiwhenua – Department of Internal Affairs makes a real difference to the lives of New Zealanders – and our Life and Identity Services Officers make this happen on a daily basis.

Life and Identity Services Officers cover a broad range of duties that are critical to providing our customers with seamless service and a great experience across our Passport, Citizenship and Births, Deaths and Marriages services. Whether it is at the frontline – engaging directly with customers by phone, email or at our counter sites, or by completing the important assessments and advice required to deliver our services – LISOs make a big contribution to the positive reputation of Kawai Ki te Iwi – our Service Delivery and Operations branch.

We are seeking a motivated and engaged person to join our team based in London.

To be successful in this role you will be service delivery orientated – strong preference will be given to Passport trained LISO’s who are willing to continue to learn and understand the unique needs of our customers (New Zealand citizens and people wanting to be citizens) and provide the advice and service they require to achieve their aspirations. Citizenship by descent experience may be an advantage.

You will have proven you are able to consistently meet high standards of accuracy and timeliness and are able to follow operating policies and procedures when accessing and making decisions on customer requests and applications.

With your strong customer focus, you will champion the needs of our customers, identifying opportunities to improve both our services and access to them. You will be comfortable supporting and assisting our customers to transact in a digital environment as more and more services become available online.

Te Tari Taiwhenua is committed to being a high performing organisation and a great place to work and provides opportunity for our people to experience genuine job satisfaction and contribute to making New Zealand better for New Zealanders.

We are an equal opportunity employer that recognise a diverse and inclusive workforce contributes to better outcomes for New Zealand and are committed to creating a workplace where all employees have equal access.

We work to make New Zealand better for New Zealanders through our four outcome areas:

  • People can easily access the services and information they need
  • Iwi, hapū and communities across New Zealand are safe, resilient and thriving
  • People’s sense of belonging and collective memory builds an inclusive New Zealand
  • New Zealand is a well-functioning democracy across central and local government

In addition to the above the successful applicant must be able to obtain the right to hold and maintain a relevant visa that provides you with the ongoing right to work in the UK. The Department may sponsor your visa application before you take up a position in the United Kingdom by providing a letter of support. Where a letter is provided for a work sponsored visa, you are not able to take up any other employment other than with the Department of Internal Affairs.

Travel to our offshore office will be at the cost of the successful applicants.

To be considered for this role you must hold New Zealand Citizenship.

For internal DIA candidates – If you are interested in these roles, you are encouraged to explore any possible New Zealand tax implications, including whether the Government Service Rule applies to you.

Applications close: Thursday 16 May 2024 – 5:00pm
