Get to where you need to be. Sooner

ANZ’s award-winning graduate programs are specifically designed to fast-track the career you have been working so hard towards. You’ll be in the express lane from day one as every graduate is hand-picked and hired to fill a genuine business need. Then when you cross the finishing line, a job will be waiting for you in an area of your choice – along with a healthy “end-of-program” pay rise.

Things move fast at ANZ as we’re doing the important work that only one of Australia’s biggest banks with a global network can tackle. But don’t worry, we’re a nice bunch of people so you won’t be expected to have all the answers up front.

Instead, six monthly rotations will open your eyes to what’s possible at ANZ and what’s the best path for you to take. And the 18 months you spend on the program will be jam packed with learning and networking opportunities to set you up with the contacts, confidence, and expertise to turbo charge your career.

So don’t delay, because our plans are big – and we want you right up front with us!

About the ANZ Graduate Program

As an ANZ Graduate, you’ll be rotating through 3 roles in different areas within your chosen division at ANZ.

Experience a mix of skills development, regular one-on-one coffee catch ups and plenty of iterations with other graduates as well as some senior people across ANZ that you’ll love to learn from.
Work on a graduate project in the first 6 months. You’ll be supported by a project sponsor and a project coach, but it’ll be your project to deliver, or fail to deliver… And that’s okay too, because we celebrate failures as we encourage you to fail fast and fail often because that is how you learn!
You don’t need a banking or finance background to join ANZ – we’re constantly collaborating on exciting projects, so we need people who can work well in a team, are strong communicators, enjoy putting forward ideas and can deliver at pace.
You don’t have to know everything and have all the answers, we’re all one big team looking at how we can solve some pretty tricky problems.

You have the opportunity to preference the following Graduate programs with ANZ:

Agribusiness (Naarm (Melbourne), Warrane (Sydney), Meanjin (Brisbane))
Risk (Naarm (Melbourne))

About You

We don’t know your name yet, but we do know that you’re curious, smart, driven and already have some great life experiences under your belt. And that is exactly what we want, along with a mix of backgrounds, opinions, and disciplines to drive the bank forward and adopt our behaviours in all aspects of working day life.

About ANZ

There’s something special about being part of ANZ. From the moment you join us, you’re part of a team working towards a common goal: improving the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our millions of customers – and that’s big.

But it’s not just our customers who’ll feel your impact. You’ll feel it too as you continuously learn, experience new things, and get the support of a community to help you take the next big steps in your career.

We are just as committed to supporting our people and giving them the opportunity to develop a career. As one of Australia’s biggest banks, we have many opportunities in many locations. Joining ANZ is about starting a career, not starting a job and we encourage people to look for opportunities across our bank.

Supporting the wellbeing of our people is also core at ANZ which is why we cherish the people-first culture we are famous for, and why the Australian Financial Review rated us the number 1 place to work in the banking and finance industry for three years running.

Being part of ANZ means working in a diverse and inclusive workplace where the different backgrounds, perspectives and life experiences of our people are celebrated, creating a great place to belong. We encourage you to talk to us about any adjustments you may require to our recruitment process or the role itself. If you are a candidate with a disability, let us know how we can provide you with additional support.

Activate Your Career

At ANZ, our commitment to First Nations employment is a key focus of our Reconciliation Action Plan since it was first established in 2007. Since then, we continue to invest to increase social and economic participation, building a culturally professional and safe environment for our business, people and communities.

RAP Highlights:
Evolution of Ngarga Wangaddja: Ngarga Wangaddja, meaning ‘mob talking’ in the language of the Narungga People, is ANZ’s First Nations Employee Reference Group. The group, consisting of members from across the country advises ANZ’s Reconciliation Action Plan governance committees and consults on matters pertaining to the First Nations employee experience.
Supporting Indigenous business through procurement: We spent $11 million with Indigenous businesses in Financial Year 2023. Since the commencement of this RAP in 2021, we have spent over $24 million with Indigenous businesses.
Updating our cultural leave policies: We have extended our bereavement (also known as compassionate) leave, cultural leave and extending the definition of ‘immediate family’ to include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander kinship roles. We also give employees choice in relation to observing the 26 January public holiday. Employees are able to opt to work on 26 January and select an alternative day as a substitute public holiday.

ANZ recognises the value of an inclusive and diverse work environment. We take pride in the diversity of our people and encourage applications from diverse candidates. Our recruitment decisions are based on the key inherent needs and requirements of each role and candidates are selected based on their unique strengths and characteristics.

Next Steps

We are committed to developing meaningful career pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and actively invite and encourage all First Nations peoples to apply for any advertised roles on our career site including our Graduate Program.

Kaylee Hipwell, our dedicated First Nations Employee Journey Expert will be in touch with you once you have applied to support you throughout the recruitment process and answer any of your questions. We encourage you to ask Kaylee about her career as she has worked with ANZ for over 15 years!
