An opportunity has arisen for a passionate, engaging and motivated midwife to work within the fetal monitoring team and wider MDT as a fetal monitoring midwife. You will be working as part of a team across both our sites but based at West Middlesex in the provision of fetal monitoring support.
To support staff in providing a safe, robust and consistent approach to fetal monitoring including both continuous and intermittent fetal monitoring;
Develop staff`s awareness in recognising factors that could contribute to misinterpretation of cardiotocography (CTGs) and impaired clinical decision making;
Ensure staff are assessing fetal well-being in the context of the woman`s health, pregnancy, gestational age, stage of labour, intrapartum risk factors;
To participate in teaching on multi-disciplinary training days and facilitate learning opportunities following interesting case reviews;
To undertake audits to ensure compliance with fetal monitoring guidelines.

Roles and responsibilities
The post holder will be involved in the development and implementation of the physiological CTG interpretation guidelines, as the Trust moves from NICE – based approach to physiological CTG interpretation.
To use every opportunity to facilitate teaching learning and reflection within the clinical area.
To lead by example and empower staff in their personal and professional development in order to maintain safety in fetal monitoring within the Trust.
To work daily on the labour ward alongside clinical staff educating all levels of midwifery and obstetric staff about physiological CTG interpretation.
To support staff on 1:1 basis as needed dependant on their education requirements.
To work effectively alongside the Labour Ward Coordinators to support staff and women.
The post holder will ensure that care provided is within the philosophy of our Maternity Service.
