We are looking for a community MSW to work with fabulous midwives in one of our community teams in a permanent post working 22.5 hours / week.

This role comprises working within a Multi – Professional Team delivering high quality care to women / birthing people and their families in the Community.

Applicants must have had prior experience working within a Maternity Department and will be expected to work independently, undertaking tasks, whilst remaining under the supervision of midwives. This will include providing care and support to the midwives in clinic, care and support for postnatal women / birthing people and their babies at home including weighing babies and undertaking the Newborn Bloodspot test, phlebotomy, breastfeeding support and advice including breastfeeding drop-in clinics.

To assist the midwives in the delivery of care to women/birthing people in the hospital and community setting. The post holder carries a defined range of duties delegated by and reported back registered member of the multi-professional team.

The MSW is able to work regularly without direct supervision, reports any concerns, change in the condition of the woman/birthing person and baby and highlights incidents to the midwife responsible for care.

Duties and responsibilities for the role will be discussed and agreed on a daily basis with the midwife in charge, with communication channels open throughout the day for further advice and support.
