University College London Hospitals is seeking to appoint a full-time band 5 assistant psychologist with an interest in neuropsychology. The post is based at the hospital’s Chalfont campus in Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire and the successful applicant will join the neuropsychological team on site who come under the Neuropsychology Department of the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, London.
The successful applicant will support in the delivery of the neuropsychology service for inpatients and outpatients with epilepsy and other seizure disorders. Duties will include assisting with the administration and scoring of neuropsychological and behavioural measures and in addition helping to maintain ongoing databases and ensuring adequate records are kept. Involvement in one to one and group therapeutic approaches for cognitive disorders, anxiety management and functional neurological disorders will also be part of the role
As well as a strong honours degree in Psychology recognised by the BPS as the graduate basis for clinical training, you should possess proficient IT and communication skills and have the ability to work well as part of a team. Many of the people who attend the department have complex needs and some have challenging presentations. Mature and sensitive interpersonal skills are essential with a basic knowledge of epilepsy and disability issues being desirable.
