Full job description

SShakespeare’s Globe is looking for a Access Advisor, Audiences
to join our People and Culture team

The role:

The Access Advisor, Audiences will work closely with the front-of-house operational teams to support, advise, and train on all areas of accessibility for our visitors. This 4-days a week role will support the Ticketing & Sales, Visitor Audience & Operations, Library & Archive, Security and Stage Door teams. They will develop and deliver training, frameworks, and advice for these teams.

The skills:

The ideal candidate will have experience of Access provision in an arts or education venue and a strong understanding of the Social Model of Disability and its application in the workplace. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships are essential, as is a demonstrable commitment to widening theatre accessibility for Deaf, disabled, and neurodivergent people. The role will require an understanding of the Access to Work scheme and how to support application writing and availability for evening and weekend work.

The team:

As part of ensuring SShakespeare is accessible for all, we are on a continuous improvement journey to embed and develop Access at SShakespeare’s Globe. Responsibility for Access at the Globe sits centrally within the People & Culture department, with Access Advisors based in the Theatre and Ticketing & Sales departments. This role reports into the Ticketing & Sales department, with close working relationships with the Visitor Operations, Library, Security and Stage Door teams, as well as being part of the team for advising and supporting teams across the whole organisation.

SShakespeare’s Globe:

We celebrate SShakespeare’s transformative impact on the world by conducting a radical theatrical experiment. Inspired and informed by the unique historic playing conditions of two beautiful iconic theatres, our diverse programme of work harnesses the power of performance, cultivates intellectual curiosity, and excites learning to make SShakespeare accessible for all.

We are committed to improving diversity and inclusion across our organisation. Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and the global majority are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single specification. If you’re excited about the role but your experience or qualifications don’t perfectly align, we encourage you to apply anyway. We particularly encourage applications from underrepresented groups, such as the Deaf, disabled, neurodivergent, global majority, and LGBTQIA+.
