About The Role

As our Visitor Engagement Assistant you will be responsible for ensuring a high standard of experience is delivered on site for visitors. Working closely with the Visitor Engagement Manager and volunteers to ensure the daily offer at weekends delights and enthuses visitors about our cause through storytelling, presenting, activities and interactive experiences.

You will lead walks, talks, tours and activities at the London Wetland Centre. Engaging visitors with your knowledge and enthusiasm, whilst recognising the needs and abilities of different audiences. Activities may include pond dipping and running touch tables.
You will also support the Visitor Engagement Manager with the coordination and supervision of our engagement volunteers. You’ll be a daily point of contact for the team and assist with rotas and allocation of duties where necessary. You will also champion the ongoing development of standards of customer care across the site, providing a visible, pro-active and approachable staff presence at the Centre.
This role is fixed term until 30th April 2025 working part time, 12 hours a week across 2 days out of 7 working Saturdays and Sundays.

About You

To join as our Visitor Engagement Assistant you’ll bring:

  • Previous experience in a visitor attraction or public space delivering talks, presentations, or activities to a range of audiences from all ages and abilities.
  • Experience interpreting conservation/science or other topics to different audiences in engaging and inspiring ways
  • A good eye for detail, particularly concerning site presentation and interpretation
  • A passion for delivering great customer service.
