Full job description

This post is fixed term, full-time, 35 hours per week based within the Disability Learning Support Service until March 31st, 2026.
The post holder will play a key role in providing Specialist Mentoring and support to students, working closely with colleagues across the University and externally to achieve this.
The Specialist Mental Health Mentors work with students who have long-term or recently developed complex Mental Health Conditions of varying severity. They should have an understanding and awareness of students with more complex presentations of multiple disabilities (comorbidity) such as specific learning difficulties, long-term health conditions, or autism alongside a mental health condition.
Reporting to the Student Wellbeing and Inclusion Manager, the Specialist Mentor will develop and provide proactive, early intervention specialist support to students who may experience significant barriers to study due to their personal circumstances. As a Specialist Mentor you will deliver a range of innovative interventions and activities to promote positive student experience, promoting good practice and deliver training across the University in relation to student support. A relevant professional qualification and relevant work experience is essential.
The Specialist Mentor Service currently operates across 2 sites: the Marylebone and Harrow Campuses and involves hybrid working. The post holder is expected to work across the university sites. The successful candidate will support students face-face on campus and remotely and will be required to undertake a DBS check.
