Location: The Nest’s hub in Peckham, as well as Primary and secondary schools across Southwark
Contract: Fixed Term until March 2025
Salary: £28,000
Hours: 37.5 Hours per week

Are you passionate about young people and keen to play a pivotal role in improving the mental wellbeing of children and families across the London Borough of Southwark?

The School Engagement Team works collaboratively with primary, secondary and specialist schools across Southwark, to identify their needs and provide support which enhances their approach to mental health and wellbeing.

The School Engagement Team deliver targeted group and 1-2-1 interventions in schools, supporting young people with challenges such as anxiety, low mood, trauma, self-esteem, and self-care. The team also deliver assemblies and class workshops to raise young people’s awareness around mental health topics, as well as facilitating training and wellbeing sessions for parent/carers and school staff.

Groundwork London works with communities across the capital to transform their lives and the places they live. The School Engagement Team work as part of The Nest, Groundwork London’s mental wellbeing support service for young people aged 0–25 and living in Southwark. The School Engagement Team were launched by the Nest in 2021, and has since worked in 50+ schools in the borough and spoke with thousands of students and hundreds of school staff about various topics relating to mental health.

We are looking for a dynamic practitioner to join the team as a Wellbeing Coach to deliver mental health support in primary, secondary and specialist schools across Southwark.

Please contact us if you have:

  • Experience working with young people and/or in the field of mental health
  • Confidence in planning and delivering workshops and assemblies to large groups of children and young people
  • Confidence in planning and delivering educational workshops and wellbeing sessions for parents/carers and school staff
  • Knowledge and understanding of the barriers young people face when accessing support
  • An awareness of working to safeguard children young people, including relevant training
