About The Role
We at PEI Group are looking for a Research Associate to join our welcoming, diverse and growing team in London. The successful research associate will be a part of a global team, responsible for the research and maintenance of contacts information of investors and fund managers active in the alternative asset classes, as well as playing a key role in survey-based research activities.
The role demands first-rate organisational skills, excellent verbal and written communication, strong excel and data management skills and an analytical mind. The ability to focus and a keen eye for detail are essential to ensure that we maintain accuracy and a high quality of output. The research associate also needs to be able to balance competing priorities and demonstrate an ability for adaptability.
Research:
- Build surveys according to briefs from different internal departments, making sure questions are well written and survey functionality is optimised.
- Put together survey contact lists targeting relevant respondents and track corresponding email campaigns and response rates.
- Ensure survey respondent quality remains high, screening respondent lists for relevance, duplicates and low-quality responses.
- Becoming an expert in how best to collect and present survey data in excel, chart and graph form.
- Develop a general awareness of all survey activity at PEI, and the types of surveys run across departments and editorial titles.
- Conduct regular public domain contacts research to corroborate suggested updates from internal and external sources and populate our database with accurate and relevant information.
- Meet regular deadlines for recurring contacts projects and maintain flexibility to accommodate ad-hoc ones.
- Regular update of information within surveys and contacts research.
- Participate in contacts review and feedback projects, with capacity in machine-assisted technology.
Knowledge:
- Maintaining an excellent knowledge of alternative assets, and an understanding of the different teams at PEI and their structures.
- Demonstrating best-practice techniques in contributing to survey projects.
- The ability to manage time well and being detail-orientated are essential to ensure a high degree of accuracy and quality of output.
- Open-source research skills, ability to conduct Boolean searches and experience working with survey software is a plus.
Key relationships:
- Building relationships with editorial, sales, event and marketing staff members across offices where necessary, and developing a good understanding of the research requirements of each team
- Assisting in liaising with vendors to deliver feedback regarding contact research.
Key success measures:
- Managing time well and meeting agreed deadlines.
- Meeting agreed targets of numbers of contacts researched and updated, and continually communicating progress towards targets.
- Building surveys and contact lists efficiently and to a high standard.
- Accuracy of data researched.
- Maintenance of an enthusiastic and positive attitude towards work.

About You
About You
The role would suit individuals with;
- Highly developed research skills.
- High levels of self-motivation.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- The ability or willingness to learn the dynamics of the private markets industry to have informed conversations about market data.
- Experience within a research role or working with surveys is useful, but not necessary.
- Attention to detail and patience so that work is completed on time and to the required standard.
- Confidence in multitasking and strong time management skills are also essential.
- Excellent spoken and written English skills and be degree educated.
- Be inquisitive and have a proactive, methodological and enthusiastic approach to work.
- The ability to work on one’s own initiative whilst maintaining close and effective relationships with others in the team and company is needed.
