About the role

We are offering part time positions working 9 hours per week within the Universal Offer Children and Young People’s Team. Our offer runs throughout the year and across the whole of the borough of Hillingdon. Work patterns include evening shifts, afternoon shifts, weekend shifts, and occasional residential work. The salary advertised will be pro-rated.

The Universal team works with children and young people to deliver high quality, consistent youth work through Locality based, Detached, Outreach and Specialist and Accredited programmes across the borough in collaboration with the statutory, community and voluntary sector. Our work is responsive to need, supports aspiration and is offered in safe spaces and places. Our work delivers opportunities that promote personal and social development, encourage children and young people to make informed choices and respect and value difference.

These posts will be placed within our Universal Team (Specialist and Accredited Team, Southeast Locality Team, Southwest Locality Team, North Locality Team and the Mobile and Detached Team) to support the expansion of our Universal Offer for children and young people.

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will be committed to taking a positive, holistic and empowering approach to service delivery. We are looking for individuals with demonstrable experience and competence in working with children and young people within formal or informal education or community settings. We are seeking to recruit individuals with an excellent understanding of issues that face children and young people today. You will have a creative and dynamic approach and be able to engage with hard to reach and other vulnerable groups. There is no specific qualification required for this role, and training will be part of the induction. A willingness to learn and a commitment to supporting children and young people is a must.

  • Have extensive and proven experience of community development and leadership
  • Have experience of working with community groups and individuals
  • Be confident to support the planning, delivery and evaluation of group an done-to-one interventions and services that are responsive to need.
