Specialist, Policy and Communications: UK Corporate Affairs

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of the UK’s leading pharmaceutical and health companies as a Policy and Communications Specialist in its Corporate Affairs team.

 

You’ll be joining a worldwide network of communications and policy experts under the Global Corporate Affairs organisation. In the UK, Corporate Affairs leads and delivers our company’s policy and communications activities, including corporate policy and communications, franchise policy and communications, internal communications and social and digital communications.

 

The role will involve working across our whole Corporate Affairs team, on a wide and diverse range of projects which help to shape the external environment and enable patient access to our medicines and vaccines. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams from across the organisation to deliver policy and communications programmes and tactics that drive our strategic business goals through a deep understanding of, and engagement with, the healthcare landscape.

 

Reporting to Director of Corporate Policy and Communications, the Specialist will focus on corporate policy and communications campaigns. Aligned to the broad nature of the role, the successful candidate will have ample opportunity to develop a well-rounded policy and communications skill set. The vision is for the successful candidate to be collaborating on and/or leading a portfolio of projects across Corporate Affairs at any time, based on business priorities.

We are looking for the right candidate who can demonstrate a passion for healthcare policy and communications, a positive attitude and experience in delivering projects which have had an impact.

 

The ideal candidate will have interest and experience in:

 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management and time management skills
  • Experience of working in health and/or science policy
  • Experience of stakeholder mapping and drafting communication
  • Experience of partnering with external groups (sponsorships/memberships)
  • Experience of capturing policy positions and communicating effectively with key audiences to meet advocacy goals.

Key tasks:

 

Activities will be focused on supporting and driving the execution of policy and communications programmes across the business. This means this role will suit candidates who are seeking a varied and broad role which enables skills and relationship development in a wide range of areas.

 

There will be no such thing as a typical day in this role! Common tasks could include, but are not limited to, the following activities:

 

  • Monitoring and understanding the external environment to understand the opportunities and challenges for the business.
  • Demonstrating social media acumen as part of an integrated communications approach.
  • Supporting the development and execution of policy and communications campaigns, including input into strategy development and effective delivery of all elements of the campaign including narrative development; content development; assets creation.
  • Working with colleagues across Corporate Affairs and the wider organisation, including our Research Labs.
  • Contributions to the broader Corporate Affairs team including involvement in key strategic and departmental initiatives.

 


Job Dimensions

 

This role is predominantly head office based in our WeWork office in Moorgate.

It is full time and flexible work arrangements are available. Occasional travel is required within the UK to attend stakeholder meetings.
