Full job description
Description
You will be responsible for delivering a series of high profile, high value and exciting stewardship and fundraising events including carol concerts, dinners, receptions, garden parties and lunches, at a variety of luxury venues and at Maggie’s centres.
As part of this team, you will be responsible for raising capital and revenue funds to support Maggie’s network of centres across the UK. You will work with the wider Trusts & Philanthropy team to help coordinate local engagement events and you will also have the opportunity to work with other teams in Maggie’s to create innovative new events.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver a programme of stewardships events and communications at Maggie’s, from the brief process, managing logistics, through to successful delivery
- Produce and use event management tools such as Critical Paths, GANNT and RACI charts, including risk assessment, health and safety requirements and post-event evaluation reports
- Write copy for stewardship communications, event programmes and auction items and liaise with designers for their production
- Ensure that income targets are met, and events delivered with the best possible ROI.
- Work with the Corporate Partnerships team to secure sponsorship for events
- Work closely with the Trusts & Philanthropy team to maximise fundraising from high-value donors and funders
- Support the management of external committees of volunteer supporters, assisting them to secure sponsorship, advertising, ticket sales, and high value gifts in kind for Maggie’s Special Events
- Provide any relevant briefings in advance of Committee, Board or event planning meetings and prepare all papers required and writing minutes
- Recruit volunteers for events, produce briefings (written and in person) for event volunteers
Skills, knowledge and expertise
- Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience in a related field
- At least two years events fundraising experience
- Experience working with high level supporters
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven customer service and excellent communication skills
- ThankQ or equivalent fundraising database system (essential)
- Ability to manage mass mailings including mail merge plus accurately manage data entry
- Competent with MS Office particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
