West London NHS Trust have created a new Manual Handling Lead post that is both exciting and challenging. The role will appeal to an experienced and motivated individual with demonstrable experience in manual handling and ergonomics, who is driven to develop the role.

You must have excellent communications skills, commitment to working flexibly and effectively within a wider Risk Management Team. You must have an awareness of current health and social care issues that affect both community and inpatient care for adults.

This is a full time post, Monday – Friday; you will be based at Trust Head Quarters in Southall and required to travel sites across the Trust.

The Manual Handling Lead will act as the Trust Competent Person for all manual handling activities, regarding the moving and handling needs of patients or service users and other activities that involve inanimate load handling.

You will be the go-to-person for specialist advice on the management of musculoskeletal disorders relating to staff and provide expert advice on complex manual handling cases in line with best practice.

With your specialist knowledge of health and safety law and risk management you will collaborate with the interdisciplinary Risk Management team and CSU leads in developing proactive strategies to reduce manual handling risk.

You will also, oversee the specification, supply and maintenance of suitable equipment in consultation with the relevant departments to facilitate safe manual handling.

You will be able to set personal development objectives and undertake continuous professional development.

You will be responsible for developing and as appropriate delivering the Trust moving and handling and other ergonomic learning programmes in partnership with Trust Learning and Development department.
