The focus of the role will be to act as a business partner to specific teams in the iQ business including the procurement, partnerships, IT and people teams to provide legal advice and support on a wide range of matters. The successful candidate will be confident drafting a variety of legal documents and working side by side with stakeholders in the business to ensure iQ has the correct contractual protection in place.
Key Responsibilities:
- Have experience in an in-house role undertaking general commercial work, including managing data protection issues;
- Be confident working as the sole business partner to the procurement, partnerships, IT and people team to provide hands on support, including taking ownership to drive forward projects and completion of contracts with the relevant stakeholders;
- Be analytical and process orientated and be able to translate commercial intent into legal drafting;
- Be a self-starter who is happy working independently with the ability to escalate matters within the legal and risk and compliance teams as required;
- Have strong drafting skills on a range of general commercial contracts including service agreements, technology contracts, data sharing agreements, nomination agreements, employment agreements and all other commercial contracts;
- Keep up to date with current changes on all relevant areas of law and contribute to the enhancement of the knowledge base of the legal function;
- Maintain and update precedent documents and templates as required;
- Foster strong working relationships across iQ, particularly with heads of departments for the relevant teams;
Skills and Experience:
- Have qualified into a commercial team and gained experience in commercial work in-house post qualification
- A natural and proactive organiser, with an ability to stay on top of a significant number of documents and matters
- Comfortable operating in a live, dynamic environment
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of communication with stakeholders and the rest of the legal team
- Strong collegiate skills, being able to work with all levels of the iQ team
- Excellent time management skills, including ability to manage workload and work within tight deadlines and an ability to work and prioritise matters systematically and methodically
- Superior attention to detail, with a willingness to take ownership to get the details right
- Qualified to practice law in England and Wales with at least four years post-qualification experience working in-house
