Inner London Pay Scale + TLR2b (£5,528)

Required from January 2025

We are seeking to appoint successful, imaginative and enthusiastic Key Stage 4 Coordinator of English to join our highly successful, innovative and lively English Faculty. Currently the faculty offers GCSE English and English Literature at Key Stage 4 and Advanced Level English Literature at Key Stage 5.

The Norwood School is a forward thinking Performing and Visual Arts School, optimistic and ambitious for all. The outstanding achievement of pupils is testament to this. Norwood consistently outperforms other schools in terms of pupils’ progress whatever the pupil’s starting point. We achieve this by our commitment to a personalised approach and focus on the individual.

The English Faculty is a talented, creative and friendly team of teachers who are passionate about their subject and ambitious for their students; teachers enjoy teaching and learners enjoy learning. This is best reflected in our Key Stage 3 imaginative and challenging curriculum, the positive results achieved at KS4 and the popularity of studying English at KS5. The role of KS4 Coordinator would suit a teacher or current leader with talent in the classroom, successful outcomes and a desire to support others to further improvement.

For further details and an application form, please contact Sarah Jane Caliste, the Headteachers’ PA. Informal discussions with the Head of English Faculty, Katy Kovacs-Gaspar, or visits to the school prior to the application are welcome.

The Norwood School is a fantastic place to work and learn. We are committed to developing teachers who are passionate about their subject and determined to convey this enthusiasm to their students. Opportunities for internal promotion are maximised and encouraged. We want all of our employees to feel included, bringing their passion, creativity and individuality to work. We recognise the importance of workload and therefore provide 20% PPA time for our teachers and commit to rarely covering for colleagues. We value all cultures, backgrounds and experiences and we truly believe that diversity drives innovation. Join our family and help us inspire every child to choose a remarkable life.

This Authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Norwood School is committed to working towards achieving the Anti Racist School Award. We want to continue to improve race equality within our school while promoting well being for Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority staff, students, parents, carers and those in our community. We are committed to the long term work that is required for institutional change.

Ofsted reports

“Students’ achievement is best when teachers make good use of assessment to set a demanding pace. In a Year 9 mathematics lesson, rapid learning activities with regular assessment meant students quickly developed the confidence to apply the skills of expanding brackets to a variety of problems. Students benefited from immediate identification of their misconceptions and moved on without delay.”
