Job Summary
The NYC office of Jackson Lewis is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to provide a broad range of litigation support to multiple attorneys, all within Employment Law. The Litigation Paralegal must have a foundational understanding of the different venues for litigation, as well as the phases of litigation. The successful candidate is very well organized, excellent at muti-tasking and balancing competing deadlines.
Responsibilities

Support of litigation matters to include, planning, organizing, and executing attorney instruction on assigned matters

Prepare chronologies and timelines for key events in a case

Interact with attorneys and clients on document gathering and production, to include management of e-discovery databases and indexing documents

Assist with legal research and case analysis

Organize and maintain pleadings files utilizing the firm’s electronic document management system

Prepare exhibits and appendices for court filings
-
Assist with preparation of documents for depositions, hearings, witness interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and trial preparation

Draft subpoenas for attorney review, execute service of subpoena according to local jurisdiction

Develop knowledge of the laws related to employment law
-
Attend depositions, hearings, and client meetings as needed

Accurately track and record billable and non-billable time in the firm’s timekeeping system
Qualifications
-
Minimum of five years of experience in a similar role
-
Excellent oral and written communication skills
-
Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and prioritize deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Must have good time-management and organizational skills
-
Strong initiative, team orientated, and professional
Educational Requirements
-
Completion of bachelor’s degree
-
Paralegal certificate a plus but not required
-
Knowledge of employment law a plus but not required
For New York State, the expected salary range for this position is between $36.00 and $48.00 per hour. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
