SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), also doing business as SJS Industrial, is currently seeking a talented Industrial Hygienist that is experienced for a possible upcoming contract supporting safety operations within a local healthcare facility.
SJS is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with 250 employees coast to coast and a headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia; it specializes in professional services to support federal and military organizations.
The Salary for this position is $95,000. SJS also offers 11 paid federal holidays, 80 hours of PTO accrual, medical, dental, vision, and a variety of additional benefits.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the organization’s industrial hygiene program to ensure regulatory compliance as mandated by federal, state and local agencies such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
- Oversee and support exposure readings, follow sampling protocols, and Interpret readings and findings.
- Manage, support, and maintain the organization’s confined space entry program.
- Prepare and submit reports and health risk assessments clearly identifying the findings, including health risks associated with the workplace, deficiencies found in the workplace, and all recommended control measures for each task assigned.
- Draft reports will be presented to the COR for review and changes before they are considered complete. All reports and memorandums for record shall be completed within 14 calendar days.
- Reports can be any: Noise Assessments, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Inspections & Training, Laser Safety Assessments, Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR), Confined Space Entry Review and Training, Lockout/Tagout procedures and training, Employee Air Monitoring as required by OSHA and internal organization, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Assessment, Portable Eyewash and Emergency Shower Evaluations and Assessments, Health Risk Assessments, Asbestos, Mold and Lead Based Paint Assessment
- Documents shall identify, at a minimum, physical, chemical, and biological hazards of the workplace, and provide recommendations for engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to control the hazards.
- Assisting in report writing, including preparation of detailed logs and data summary tables.
- Recommended workplace control measures shall have the maximum efficiency at the lowest cost to ensure Federal OSHA compliance and to reduce employee exposures and liabilities.
- Contractor shall also assist in the development and implementation of PPE programs and selection of PPE to protect employees and to maintain compliance with current Federal OSHA standards.
Requirements:
- MUST Possess Bachelor of Science in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or a related field.
- Possess a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) Certificate. (Preferred, but not required)
- 40 Hour HAZWOPER Cert
- Certified Safety Professional, previous experience as Environmental Health and Safety manager could be accepted in lieu of Industrial Hygiene experience.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, such as OSHA, EPA, and local health and safety laws.
- Five (5) to ten (10) or more years of experience as an Industrial Hygienist in a medial/hospital environment
- IH shall also have experience meeting Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Veterans Administration and JCAHO Health and Safety Program requirements.
- Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.
