About The Role

About the role
Dementia Advisor working within the London Borough of Wandsworth.
The role is to provide a personalised and positive outcome-based service to individuals affected by dementia and memory loss symptoms. The service will identify their needs and the services they may require, support the improvement of their overall well-being, and enable them to take control of their lives. The Dementia Adviser may need to collaborate with other professionals such as GP’s, memory clinic staff, and other health and social care partners. Support will be provided in person, over the telephone, via virtual options, or in writing. Our goal is to reach out to people affected by dementia from all communities and support their needs within their own community.
About you
This is a great opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic, committed, organised, and resilient, and who has experience or an interest in supporting people with memory problems and dementia and their caregivers/supporters.
In your application, please detail how your skills, experience, and knowledge qualify you for the position. Understanding client needs and the importance of confidentiality is essential to delivering a valuable and worthwhile service.
Due to the nature of the service, experience in safeguarding would be beneficial.
To be successful in this role, you will;
- Have excellent communication skills as well as strong organisational skills in order to manage your caseload of clients effectively within tight deadlines.
- Be good at developing relationships and networking with professionals and organisations in Wandsworth.
- Be empathetic and non-judgmental in your approach, committed to equal opportunity.
- Be passionate about putting people with memory problems, people affected by dementia carers and supporters at the heart of everything you do to make our service the best it can be.
- Have a sound knowledge of IT systems such as Microsoft Office.
- Manage your time effectively by connecting with your colleagues/team on a weekly basis, remotely, working out in the community and at home.
- Be able to travel independently across the Borough of Wandsworth.
