Full job description
COVER SUPERVISOR – to start September 2024
Do you want to work in a welcoming and forward-looking school? Do you want to make a difference?
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Cover Supervisor to join Springwest Academy.
You will be responsible for supervising classes in the absence of regular teaching staff and ensuring effective
learning takes place. You will be required to cover all subjects. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual
who is able to use their own initiative whilst also being able to relate to and establish a rapport with young
people. Educated to degree level with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, your main
responsibilities will include undertaking whole class supervision in the absence of the class teacher, setting
work previously prepared by the teacher; developing curricular knowledge as required by the school;
applying the school’s Behaviour Policy and reporting any difficulties to the supervising teacher/Head of
Faculty.
We would like to encourage people who may be considering a career in teaching and who wish to gain
some further experience before doing so. A good induction programme is in place and you will join a large
existing team of dedicated professionals. You will be fully supported in your role and there are
opportunities for professional development. We take staff development very seriously and are a kind,
caring and inclusive school. We have recently been awarded the ACE School of Character quality mark, and
are one of the few schools in London to have achieved this.
We offer a variety of staff benefits including no after school meetings, travel season ticket loans, a cycle to
work scheme, a pension scheme with excellent employer contributions and an early finish on a Friday.
Here at Springwest Academy, part of Tudor Park Education Trust, we’re always seeking to better our best.
We strive to provide outstanding teaching and abundant opportunities in a wonderfully diverse and
compassionate community. We lead by example, providing the inspiration and encouragement needed to
nurture fledgling aspirations, confidence and motivation. There is a culture of working together with an At
Springwest we… approach to everything we do. Students can focus on making strong progress in a safe
and happy environment because they know this is how we do it here. Our most recent Section 8 Ofsted
inspection (March 2023) confirmed that we are on our journey to outstanding.
Springwest is located on a large green site less than 30 minutes from Waterloo and only 7 minutes’ walk
from Feltham station. With easy access to the M3 and M4 we are also well located for staff looking to live
outside of central London.
Tudor Park Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects
all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS
check, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check will be completed for all applicants.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (2013 and
2020). This means that certain convictions and cautions are considered ‘protected’ and do not need to be
disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account. Guidance

ensure candidates for their customer facing roles have the necessary standard of spoken English (or English
