Responsibilities
- Serves as the lead on identifying and preparing educational grants in support of central Graduate School initiatives; secures external funding to further the Graduate School’s institutional priorities, including but not limited to pipeline programming and student support programming, providing administrative support to graduate students and their principal investigators in writing, submitting research grants, and providing oversight for pre- and post- award activities
- Identifies, vets, and promotes external funding opportunities for domestic and international graduate students
- Serves as lead on identifying, writing and submitting educational grants for PhD and MS level education
- Spearheads the organization and creation of innovative new curriculum for individual programs and/or in support of central Graduate School initiatives and pursues external funding for these programs
- Develops and presents grant application and management workshops for PhD, MS, and pipeline students
- Creates templates for mentorship programs, diversity initiatives and responsible conduct of research sections, among others
- Meets with students one-on-one to develop and strengthen grant applications
- Guides students through grant application process, in consultation with PIs, through one on one meetings, formatting guidance, and trainings, including but not limited to, how to draft biosketches, support pages and resource & facilities forms
- Oversees and coordinates pre-award activities
- Assists students with application process; ensures timely submission of federal, foundation, and industry-sponsored grant applications and contracts
- Oversees preparation of all grant application components
- Oversees organization and preparation of all components of grant applications
- Processes internal paperwork for Sponsored Research Agreements and Material Transfer Agreements
- In coordination with departmental post-award grant administrators, processes salary distribution and verifies accuracy of grant account set-up
- Communicates Graduate School policies to students’ PIs and manages related agreements
- Ensures compliance with institutional policies regarding systems access and training required for human subjects’ research
- Represents WCM on grant review committees as appropriate
- In partnership with the Assistant Director, generates/maintains centralized database to house accurate and up-to-date information, including milestone tracking, budgetary items, and total dollar amounts of grants and award revenue
- Serves as the primary administrative contact and liaison between the PhD and MS program faculty and central Graduate School for institutional data requests and best practice, as related to grant and fellowship activity
- Assists in the development of policies, procedures, and systems to ensure productive and efficient Graduate School operations
- Supports the Assistant Director in the preparation of quarterly and annual reports on grant submissions and actions by the Graduate school and funding agencies

Experience
PhD is preferred.
Must have knowledge and experience in the grant seeking and grant writing process, preferably at an institution of higher education.
Experience with WCM grants and fellowship administration is desirable.
Prior experience with federal and non-federal research regulations and policies is desired.
