Established as a resident-led Partnership in Walthamstow and funded by the National Lottery through the Big Local Scheme, St James Street Big LocaL (SJSBL) are one of 150 areas to receive £1m of funding to deliver a programme of activities that improve the quality of life for all local residents.
Our aim is to empower and bring people together to build partnerships and to encourage local residents to speak out and let their voices be heard. We are dedicated to helping the community to thrive and make special efforts to ensure seldom-heard groups are included in all we do.
We are now looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Community Outreach Worker to help us achieve our legacy ambitions for the project which is for St James Street Big Local to outlive the Big Local funding. This individual will excel in the community environment focusing on public engagement and mobilising activists and volunteers all whilst executing our delivery plan.
As a resident-led Partnership Board we are proudly working with our Locally Trusted Organisation. They hold and process our grant payments and employ our valued delivery workers on our behalf.
Key Responsibilities for this role:
- To create, execute, and promote community initiatives in line with established priorities.
- To collaborate with the Programme Manager to successfully implement projects.
- To proactively engage with local residents regarding St. James Street Big Local priorities and provide relevant recommendations to the Partnership.
- To engage with the varied community to enlist volunteers for both the partnership board and community initiatives.
- To be actively involved with physical and digital communications including flyers, website, Social Media, newsletters and face to face communications.
- To develop a programme of events, services and activities to directly impact the local community.
General expectations:
- To support the Programme Manager with the implementation of projects and activities that aid St James Streets mission.
- To support, promote and publicise the wider St. James Street Big Local Partnership and projects to raise the St. James Street Big LocaL profile.
- To work flexibility in accordance with the needs of the project, including occasional evening and weekend work.
