About The Role

Are you a skilled volunteering professional with a passion for Community Development and Community Engagement? We’re looking for someone motivated, innovative and collaborative, who will use their deep knowledge of Community Development and Engagement alongside experience of volunteering good practice to support us to help grow the impact and reach of our work in the community, especially amongst currently underserved groups.

This role will sit within the Volunteering Team, part of the People directorate, responsible for the development of our strategic approach to working with communities across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, supporting key stakeholders with implementation of the approach within their region.

This is an exciting new role; you will need to bring best practice, energy, direction, be organised, and supportive, encouraging a learning and improvement culture. You’ll be confident to take the reins on projects, demonstrating excellent collaboration skills, especially when it comes to involving volunteers and people affected by dementia in our work.

About you
  • Ability to develop and lead the community development agenda for the Society.
  • Experience in programme and project management, in a collaborative way, at scale.
  • Bring a combination of volunteering, community development and community engagement expertise.
  • Be as comfortable talking to someone with dementia as our volunteers or leadership teams.
  • Form effective relationships and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and safe, supportive space through matrix management.
  • Support our work to reach underserved communities through innovative models of community development and volunteering.
  • Contribute to discussions about what works well and where we could do things differently, to support a learning culture.
  • Work collaboratively to identify opportunities to partner with local communities to develop our work and increase our impact.
  • Positively represent the Society externally.
