The role
The Collections Specialist will be responsible for maintaining relationships, handling reminder calls and managing customer account balances whilst ensuring all processes are followed.
This role is achieved by providing exceptional customer service via inbound/outbound calls and correspondence/emails to ensure the health of each loan account.
Responsibilities
Here’s an example of your day to day:
- Manage reminder calls and other correspondence with customers who are late with payment
- Providing customer service regarding repayment issues, process and review account adjustments, resolve client discrepancies and short payments
- Reconcile customer disputes
- Establish payment plans for customers
- Maintain detailed and accurate records for interactions, contact details, collections work and all other activity, related to the management of customer
- Support business requirements as needed within the scope of training and knowledge – this particularly pertains to providing support to the Hardship Team
Requirements

- Proactive and performance driven
- Ability to display a flexible approach to problem solving issues whilst working within established credit framework
- Ability to work within an ambiguous environment and assist to create appropriate structure and processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Basic to intermediate level)
- Regulatory Industry knowledge – highly regarded
- Knowledge of phone systems
- An understanding of Collections and Hardship – highly regarded
- Previous experience in a customer service role
