Café Operations Manager
Salary: £37,432 per annum

Location: 3 days at Walthamstow Wetlands, 1 day each at Camley Street and Woodberry Wetlands. Regular weekend working is expected in this role.
Role & Responsibilities
Our cafés are the heart of our visitor centres, offering the dual purpose of raising much needed financial income for the charity and being the first touch point to communicate our key mission to the wider public.
The Café Operations Manager will play a crucial part in leading the cafe team, overseeing daily operations across multiple locations to ensure each meets the Trust’s standards for quality, service, and cleanliness.
- Ensure all sites are staffed and holiday allowance is managed across the year
- Ensure that the team has relevant training allocated and completed, line and performance management is in place for the café teams
- Liaise with suppliers, researching best value items and new products
- Work closely with the Finance Team to ensure takings are put onto the finance software, and purchase orders raised
- Have full control of the budget for cafes; tracking wage costs, expenditure and waste, implementing profitability improvement strategies.
- Take a proactive lead on developing additional kiosk offers at the different venues (e.g. ice cream bikes, pop up coffee stations) to maximise commercial trading opportunities.
- ensure that social media content is produced on a regular basis
Our ideal Café Operations Manager
- At least two years’ experience in food outlet management (café, restaurant, etc.)
- Financial knowledge of how to track expenses, monitor inventory and forecast revenue – an understanding of accounting principles and the ability to use financial software.
- A strong understanding of food and beverage service, including menu planning, portion control and food safety and sanitation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership skills with experience in building and maintaining relationships with team members and suppliers
