Full job description
We are looking for NHS experienced Healthcare Assistants who can work supervised under qualified staff and to provide support in the delivery of quality care for patients. To provide a full range of support functions in a ward/department/theatre or critical environment. This will include undertaking personal care duties for patients, clerical duties and reporting patient conditions to qualified staff. Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of service users, and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person-centered care principles.
The post holder will deliver outstanding enhanced nursing care to a specific patient group as identified by the Trusts’ enhanced care policy.
This patient group many include but is not limited to:
Mental illness
Dementia
Delirium
Intoxication
The Mental Health Clinical Support Worker will spend significant periods of time with patients and their family. They will be required to develop therapeutic relationships quickly, facilitate meaningful engagement, provide emotional support and participate in providing physical health care.
The Mental Health Clinical Support Worker will have experience identifying trigger points for patients who at times lack insight, and will have excellent skills in verbal de-escalation. A knowledge and awareness of mental health problems and symptoms would be important, alongside previous experience of working in an acute mental health setting.
The Mental Health Clinical Support Worker will actively support activities of daily living & formulate meaningful therapeutic engagement, to support patients through their stay at King’s.
The Mental Health Clinical Support Worker will on occasion, be expected to assist in restricting the movement of patients who are being cared for using:
Mental Capacity Act (2005)
Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (2005)
Mental Health Act (1983)
They will adhere to Trust policies, data protection as well as Health and Safety, and will assist the relevant team to ensure the provision of outstanding therapeutic, safe care.
