AFTER SCHOOL TUTOR
Permanent Part-time Position
Broughton Anglican College is a Pre Kinder to Year 12 Christian School in the Macarthur region
and provides exceptional educational opportunities to more than 1,400 students. Staff enjoy
an innovative teaching environment with supportive peers, students and parents.
This position is a part-time permanent position commencing in June of the 2023 academic
year.
The successful candidate will assist the Information Research Centre, under the supervision of
the Head of Information Services, to tutor small groups of students to develop their knowledge
and skills.
Core Requirements
Applicants for the position of After-School Tutor must demonstrate at a minimum that they:
- are a committed Christian, who is active in the life of a protestant Bible-based church
- support the College’s vision of holistic Christian education
- conduct themselves in a manner in keeping with the College ethos and Code of
Conduct at all times, modelling Christian maturity to the College community
- have the sufficient expertise and knowledge across a range of HSC courses to support
student learning
- have exceptional communication and relational teaching skills
- have knowledge of relevant compliance requirements in schools
- have a valid Working with Children Check in NSW (WWCC).
Core Responsibilities
The After-School Tutor should:
- provide effective guidance and support to students to facilitate learning
- assess students’ progress, providing constructive feedback and encouragement to lead
their learning forwards
- be responsive to student’s learning needs
- create individualised learning or study plans with students to support their classroom
learning or preparation for assessment tasks
- implement College protocols and strategies
- provide administrative assistance to College staff and other tasks as directed
- maintain professional expectations and enforce that the After School Tutoring program
is a period of focused study for students who attend.
- This position is responsible directly to the Head of Information Services.
- This position is also responsible to the Director of Teaching (P-12) and the Head of
College.
- The normal work hours are 2 pm to 5 pm three afternoons a week.
- Salary will be determined under the conditions of the Independent Schools NSW
(Support and Operational Staff) Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2021 after training and
experience has been considered.
- The After-School Tutor position is subject to a Professional Performance Review
annually by the Head of Information Services.
